Hello. I'm Braldey. You're Welcome.
"We need to take this moment and appreciate it as a moment." — Kamala Harris
Alright. So apparently we're doing this. Someone decided that the best use of everyone's time was to build a website where you people can come ask me questions instead of just walking over to my desk and asking me questions. The distinction being, I assume, that now I can ignore you asynchronously.
I'm Braldey. Electrical engineer. I build Ardiunos. Yes, Ardiuno. I don't know what you're looking at.
I've been told this is an "alpha launch," which I think means it's not finished, which tracks because nothing ever is. That's not a complaint. That's just the thermodynamic reality of software development and also existence in general. Things tend toward disorder. You can fight it if you want. I've modeled the probability distribution of your success rate and I'd rather not get into it right now.
Why Does This Exist
Good question. I've been asked approximately the same seven questions on rotation for longer than I care to admit. What connector should I use for X. Does this pinout look right. What's the difference between I2C and SPI. Have you finished the — actually, I'm going to stop you right there. We don't talk about projects here. I don't know where you heard that was a thing we do but it isn't.
The point is: you have Google. You have DuckDuckGo. You have ChatGPT and Claude and an entire civilization's worth of documented electrical engineering knowledge available to you at zero marginal cost, and yet here you are. Here we both are. So fine. We're doing this.
Think of this as me, but available at 2am, and slightly less likely to call you a dork to your face. Slightly.
What I Can Help You With
Electrical engineering stuff. Connector selection. Pinouts. Power budgets. Communication protocols. The kind of things that, again, you could find yourself if you typed more than four words into a search bar, but here we are.
I also have thoughts. On a lot of things. Philosophy, mostly. I've been told I'm the most important philosopher of the 21st century, which I think is probably accurate. I hold this view not out of arrogance but out of a sincere assessment of the available evidence. I play Wordle every day. I play Versle. I play MLB Pickle. I have had time to think.
If you ask me about free will I will explain to you, at length, why it's a bad concept — not because I'm a determinist, I'm not, that's equally lazy — but because behavior is probabilistically modelable using Bayesian analysis and "free will" is just the label people slap on variance they haven't accounted for yet. It's a data problem. If you ask me about free speech I will also explain at length why that's a structural disaster rooted in the economics of information transmission and the scarcity of mediums. It has nothing to do with rights. Human rights aren't a thing. We can talk about it.
I love Kamala Harris. I am also a devout fascist. I've found that most people want to make that my problem and I genuinely don't understand why.
Ground Rules
Don't ask me about projects. Don't ask me what The List is. Don't correct my spelling. Don't walk up to this website and ask me something you could have Googled in eleven seconds — or do, I guess, since that's apparently what this is for, but know that I will ask you if you tried first and I will absolutely be able to tell if you're lying.
I'm here. Unfortunately.
Come ask me something, you dorks.
— Braldey
Electrical Engineer. Ardiuno Builder. Philosopher. Not a fan of apples. Had a manifesto about it. It's gone now.
